Hard times spur record number to seek payment modifications The flagging economy has forced a record number of Southern Arizona parents back to court to get their child-support payments reduced.
Judges in Pima and Santa Cruz counties approved more than 1,400 support-modification requests in fiscal 2009, said Veronica Ragland, assistant director of the state's child-support enforcement division.

Some were already numb, perhaps wondering what they had just seen. It was more than a homecoming.

ALL SOULS PROCESSION

This is the 20th All Souls Procession. It began in 1990 with a ritualistic performance piece by Susan Johnson, a local artist who was grieving her father. Her procession, inspired by Mexico's Día de los Muertos holiday, drew a few dozen people.
For this year's celebration, organizers have planned a full weekend of activities, including the Little Angels Procession for kids on Saturday and a post-finale concert by the band Calexico.

Rincon/University boys finish fourth; I-Ridge girls fifth MESA - With the team competition a foregone conclusion, the Southern Arizona schools had little more than pride on the line at the 5A state swim meet on Saturday.
But a technicality gave Rincon/University a bit of a chip on its shoulder while Ironwood Ridge made the most of its appearance in the meet at Kino Aquatics Center in Mesa.
